2017’s Richest Person and How They Made Their Money: REVEALED!
2. Warren Buffett, 86 – Net Worth: $77.2 billion
Hailing from sleepy Omaha, Nebraska, Warren Buffett is widely regarded as the greatest investor of all time. Buying his first shares in the stock market at age 11 and selling them on for a healthy profit, Buffett was always destined for the very top and had a knack for numbers. Buffett started his own investment firm in the 50s after working as a securities analyst and went on to buy Berkshire Hathaway in 1969, the company which now houses all of his investments.
Berkshire Hathaway’s investment portfolio consists of some of the biggest companies in the world – cash cows like Coca-Cola, General Motors, Dairy Queen, American Express and many more. More recent investments include Duracell and Fruit of the Loom, helping to diversify and strengthen Buffett’s strategy. Despite being the second richest man in the world, Buffett leads a very modest lifestyle (we’ve seen that before on this list, right!) – he will often stop at McDonalds on the way to work to pick up breakfast for a couple of dollars. Buffett, along with his children, give huge amounts of money to charity – in fact, Warren is one of the founders of the aforementioned Giving Pledge.
